Castelli is an Italian cycling company that hails from Milan. Vittore Gianni, orginally a tailor, founded the company in 1876. Gianni has a history of providing jerseys for famous teams like AC Milan and Juventus. Cycling enthusiasts may well know Alfredo Binda, the world champion athlete for whom the first cycling-specific clothing was made by Castelli in 1910. The Castelli name came from a young man named Armando Castelli who bought the enterprise after working there for 4 years.
Throughout their history, Castelli has boasted a variety of famous clientele, including cycling legends Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali. Castelli was also responsible for introducing the first shorts made of Lycra material to the racing public. In addition, the first thermal clothing was worn by Francesco Moser in Paris. A company built on innovation, in 2010 they produced a special material that sheds water and allows the athlete to breath through difficult races.
The Alpha Wind Jersey FZ riders can experience total freedom to move and stay dry. Ventilating Nano material allows you to stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat. It even includes rain protection. The Giro Jersey FZ is a long sleeve jersey that features high visibility and an easy-to-use zipper for taking it on and off.
The Flanders Warm LS is ideal for the months between October and April. The fleece provides warmth and comfort while the multi-denier fabric keeps moisture from pooling on your skin. There is also the classic Flanders LS, which is for mild to cool weather, and it still wicks moisture, allowing you to cycle in comfort.
The Velocissimo 2 Tight is Thermoflex based tight that is built to be aerodynamic. It also boasts a KISS3 padding for added comfort.
Castelli offers the Nanoflex Bibshort as a hybrid solution to a common problem: dry, warm days and cold, wet conditions. In both situations, you need a form fitting material that is almost completely water proof. It also makes the ride comfortable with strategic padding.
When competing in a triathlon, you need the right gear to give you every advantage possible. This seems to be Castelli's aim with the Body Paint SR Tri Suit Sleeveless. The fabric for the upper body is Velocity-based, and carefully placed padding keeps you comfortable for all three portions.
